They didn't meet until after graduating from Texas Christian University. Brian's sister introduced the pair at a party, and it would take a few more years for them to start dating. But Dawn says, "I think we both always knew we were meant to be since our first date."

The couple was a steady item as Dawn built up her Fort Worth business, Lane-Knight, a women's specialty storefront and website that carries designer apparel, accessories and apothecary. Brian — dark, handsome and always impeccably dressed — was the perfect complement to the fair-haired and stylish Dawn.

Their travels took them around the world, but Brian proposed while they were canoeing on Lady Bird Lake in Austin. "It was perfect," says Dawn. For the wedding, she had an intimate celebration in mind, incorporating all the things she loves and reflecting her personal style.

She chose a color scheme of canary yellow and Delft blue with silver accents. Details — like eucalyptus incorporated into the table runners, bouquets and groom's cake — were inspired by her Blue ink was used for their letterpress invitations and hand-lettered envelopes. California childhood. But her allegiance to her hometown was evident as she worked with many local artisans: Invitations were hand lettered by Lauren Essl of Blue Eye Brown Eye; wedding programs, menus and bachelorette party invites were created by Brooke Wright of Funky Wright Designs.

With Dawn's background in fashion, it's no surprise that the entire wedding party looked effortlessly chic. Her attendants wore their own choice of dark blue dresses and silver pumps; Camille, the flower girl, donned an Oscar de la Renta dress and a floral crown designed by R Love Floral Designs; and Cline and Easton, the two ring bearers, wore tuxedos. For her own attire, the bride chose an elegant Amsale gown with beaded straps and Badgley Mischka pumps with bejeweled ankle straps. Her upswept hair helped accentuate her simple choice in jewelry, a pair of diamond-stud earrings. Brian held his own in an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo worn with a gunmetal gray bow tie.

Dawn chose the location for the wedding with the same deliberation and attention to detail. Only later did she find a serendipitous connection. " I have always believed First United Methodist to be the most beautiful church in Fort Worth, and I have always envisioned having my wedding there," she says. "After the wedding, I learned that my great grandfather and great-grandmother were members."

For the reception, the couple went with tradition in hosting friends and family at River Crest Country Club. Lottie Fowler of Grit + Gold helped orchestrate the postwedding celebration. Dawn's color scheme was evident in the use of mismatched blue-and-white ceramic vases filled with white and yellow arrangements of peonies, as tilbe, tulips, garden roses, eucalyptus and ranunculus. Bowls of greenery and lemons added color, too. The clubby setting — the burning fireplace, crystal chandeliers — also set the tone for the evening.

When they chose January for their wedding date, Dawn admits they took a gamble on the weather but lucked out when she woke up to blue skies and sunshine, and the day segued into a beautiful evening. "The night was magical," says Dawn. — Jennifer Norris
