SPECIAL ADVERTISING PROMOTION Justin Boots presents • Fo rgin g • Pop star to open first retail store making an impact aco native and TCU graduate Carolyn Phillips loved her job working in development in the non-profit sector, but her entrepreneurial spirit was calling her to do more. In 2015, she started Alchemy Pops, a gourmet frozen treat company focused on creating unusual and unique flavors with locally sourced ingredients. “Alchemy started when I threw a party at my house and made pops for everyone,” Phillips says. She knew she was on to something and, soon after, she was officially open for business. That same year, after realizing there weren’t enough hours in the day, she quit her job and made Alchemy Pops her full-time gig. With some help from those she calls the “inclusive” Fort Worth business community, Alchemy has grown from a single cart to five mobile units. Now, Phillips is ready for the next step. She plans to open Alchemy Pops’ storefront — located in the up-and-coming South Main Village — in early 2018. She’s excited for her business’s future but also for other small businesses starting up. “I hope I can help local small businesses get started and grow as much as I have been helped,” she says. “I hope to be a mentor and guide so that I can pay forward the chances I’ve been given by this awesome business community that Fort Worth is known for.” W We salute the entrepreneurial citizens of the greater Tarrant County area.
