Celebrity Chefs | Jan. 21 The Mid-Cities SOS of Colleyville hosts its annual culinary event to raise money for SafeHaven of Tarrant County, whose mission it is to end family violence. SafeHaven board member Tracy Rector will share her own painful story at the event, bringing home harsh numbers that show one in three women who live in Tarrant County is a victim of domestic abuse. A cocktail and appetizer reception with live jazz precedes the main event, with food stations manned by 17 area chefs. The chefs include Jon Bonnell of Bonnell’s Steakhouse and Waters, Todd Phillips of JR’s Steak and Grill, Donatello Trotti of Nonna Tata, Jason Harper of Trio New American Cafe, Charles Youts of The Classic at Roanoke and Ying Aikens of Next Bistro, among others. Look for doughnut “artist” Rod Moruss from Southlake’s Peace, Love & Little Donuts, as well. Guests have a chance to bid on live-auction gourmet packages from the participating chefs, luxury trips and other goodies, and a wine pull is part of the fun. 6 p.m.; tickets, $125. Purchase tickets online at celebrity-chefs.org. Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Drive, Hurst. Learn more about the mission at mid-citiessos.org or safehaventc.org. Beyond the Bag | Jan. 27 The newly opened 4 Eleven venue has snagged the 2018 Beyond the Bag fundraiser. This yearly event raises money for the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center inside Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. Proceeds are used to help fund the mission of founder Joan Katz: to provide everything from experienced nurse navigators, counselors, education and other guidance to individuals and their families dealing with cancer. While known for its work with breast cancer patients, the center is open to men, women and children dealing with any type of cancer. Raffle tickets, $50, for a 2018 Lexus RC are sold to support specifically the breast and gynecological cancer patients who seek help at the resource center, and you do not have to be present to win. At the event, donated designer handbags are auctioned off. Also, look for an “experience bag,” where you can win exclusive trips. Other entertainment includes live music, a Jon Bonnell-catered dinner and the announcement of who gets to drive home the new Lexus. Table sponsorships are available; limited single tickets go on sale in January; go to beyondthebagfw.com for details. 7 p.m., The 4Eleven, 411 S. Main St., Fort Worth.
