Married Sept. 17, 2016 It’s standard practice for family and friends to be a big part of a couple’s wedding, but for Fort Worth’s Colin Viteaux and Allie Garcia, their nearest and dearest were a big part of the proposal as well. After an intimate dinner, he whisked her away to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, where he had set the stage to pop the question in The Rose Garden. Unbeknownst to Allie, her family members and his were behind the bushes, along with close friends, plus a photographer ready to capture the big moment. “That was probably the most effort I’ve put into anything in my life, except maybe college,” Colin says. “But I knew that I wanted her family and mine there, and it was the only place where I thought I could hide them. I also knew it would be a great place for a group photo.” A year later, the couple was married at Fort Worth’s Holy Family Catholic Church. Their nuptials marked a new milestone for the pair, who met as ninth graders at a Nolan Catholic High School football game. The connection, first forged under Friday night lights, grew deeper in the ensuing years as they headed to college together, first attending Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, then transferring together to earn degrees at the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2015. Colin’s proposal came four months after graduation. The couple went into wedding planning mode, working with Lottie Fowler of Grit + Gold to add personal touches that would make the festivities fun and unique. In order to make sure everyone would get their groove on at the reception, the wedding invitation’s RSVP included the line: “I would get up and dance if the DJ played …” “That was something that was really important to Colin, because he loves dancing,” Allie says. “I’m not the best dancer, but he really wanted to make sure everybody had a good time and everybody was comfortable enough to get up and dance.” Thanks to the diverse playlist and the skills of DJ Jason Esquire, guests of all ages graced the dance floor at the reception, held at McDavid Studio at Bass Performance Hall. Having amazing food at the reception was another priority for the couple. Magdalena’s came through with a flavorful array of passed appetizers — mini braised short-rib tacos, Mexican shrimp cocktail — and a full buffet including marinated skirt steak with chimichurri, a guest favorite. His and hers signature cocktails added a festive touch to the celebration. Colin chose Fort Worth-based Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co.’s TX Blended Whiskey, while Allie requested rum and Coke made with Malibu Original coconutflavored rum. “It was great to see everyone having a good time, enjoying themselves and just celebrating together,” Allie says. “And to think that we were almost going to forgo a videographer — I’m so glad we didn’t. It really helps us relive the day that went by way too fast.”— Kathryn Hopper The Wedding Details Venue Holy Family Catholic Church, holyfamilyfw.org | Reception McDavid Studio at Bass Performance Hall, basshall.com/about/maddox-muse-center/mcdavid-studio | Wedding planner Lottie Fowler, Grit + Gold, gritandgoldweddings.com Photographer Matt & Julie Weddings, mattandjulieweddings.com | Videographer Reverent Wedding Films, wedding.film Flowers Wedfully Yours, www.wedfullyyours.com | Invitations Minted, minted.com | Calligraphy Pretty Post Calligraphy + Design, prettypostcalligraphy.com Wedding dress BHLDN, bhldn.com | Hair and makeup Something You...
